Ok, so I don’t really cross-post, but if you’re curious about how things are going in Huntington Beach, I just put up a long post on Far. No details about the actual garage, but at least it tells you something about what the city and the commute are like. I’m taking it slow today, catching up with some stuff and eating many chocolate-covered espresso beans from a care package Mom sent me. Hope all is well with you guys!

I’ve been enjoying the bookcase Chelsea sent me. I now have a matching pair! The new one does have one corner that looks a little chewed up, but it doesn’t affect structural integrity and it’s such a nice piece that I would have bought it anyway if I had seen it in a store, so I’m cool with it. (In an earthquake the bookcase would probably wobble in waltz time, which is kind of funny.) I’ve piled all my notebooks onto Bookcase #1, and am planning to use Bookcase #2 for books and other fun stuff, like maybe a flower. Of course by the time I get everything unpacked and set up, I’ll probably be moving again… to a new place that I haven’t found yet. Hm. I should get started on that.

I know I said I would give more details about the new place, but that will have to wait (read “might never happen”). Right now I’m not even expecting to be there for more than about a week or ten days. There’s a lot of chaos, and dealing with it has sapped my energy reserves to the point where I’m basically a papaya. Why a papaya? I have no idea. I may be off the radar for a while because I don’t have Internet access yet, and though I’ve been told it should be in tomorrow, I’m not counting on it. (I’m at the library now.) The cats are a little shell-shocked, but otherwise ok. I got them self-heating mats so they won’t be as cold tonight. That’s all for now.

So as you all know, I’ve been looking for a new place. It hasn’t been easy, but today, finally, I wrote a check for March rent on a… well, garage.
Before you say anything, let me just tell you that it’s a very nice garage. In fact it’s the nicest garage I’ve ever seen. It’s in Huntington Beach, so I’ll have to commute, but it only has to hold me for a month or two. Then hopefully I’ll be able to find an actual room slightly closer to all these crazy places where I work and take classes.
I’ll say more about the place after I’ve actually moved in, which should be this weekend. In the meantime, I’ll be focused on the presentation and the final that I also have this week. (February may be small, but it has a lot of punch.) Hope you’re all doing well and enjoying your various types of crazy!
